What does facial recognition have to do with blogging? What is the point of the API? The pitch was kind of boring.

I couldn't really understand what he was saying, or what the company does.

video search needs this now
Victor 6/4/08 4:45PM #
Yeah, if this product actually works like he says, video marketers are foaming at the mouths.
Dave 6/4/08 5:37PM #
If this software work it will be great for youtube. No more bait and switch videos.

Why on earth would anyone vote "down" on this? Hello! They just claimed to solve the #1 and #2 biggest problems with video search! (That is, searching for the video & searching within it.)
Matt 6/5/08 1:38AM #
Alan, contextual analysis of video based on speech to text is nothing new, and they haven't really solved #1 either. What the product supposedly enables is facial recognition within videos, which isn't the same as getting a video of Everest when searching for mountain.

Video is(has) fast becoming the much sought after content on internet. And, its only gonna go up north. The idea presented is not available for video search. It would be awesome to have it. But, i doubt its that straight forward or simple to use.

Nice, but I want this offline. I don't want the world to see all my videos but I want to search, categorize and tag them. And share my comments over all the copy I have of this movie file over all my backup discs and the copies I gave to friends. ..... but without the fear that some company can read my tree of friends and my behavior out of my 200GB of photos and videos.
JackH 6/5/08 6:7AM #
... Why isn't there a sharing software that lets me share photos and videos I made with everyone on the video and with all my friends as long as everyone (using the sharing software) on the video agreed. And were comments are distributed into the in-file-comment-section all over the copies. ...

@JackH - I am working on that. Get in touch with me at http://www.Knyshov.com if interested. ;-)

It doesn't make sense to me or interest me by 14 seconds in - my attention is lost.
Dan Lowe 6/7/08 4:52PM #
Wow, 14 seconds, huh? Get on it TechCrunch: One Startup. 13 seconds. Go!
Ray 6/8/08 7:3AM #
Guy sounds like Arnie

Have a heart, I was just being honest. Even if you have a minute with a captive audience, you've gotta grab their attention right away or they'll start thinking about their next meal. Especially if they're listening to pitches day in, day out.

I liked your thinking but i definitely do not think this will work out if u hold it alone for animation because this would minimize your chances of gettin ahead of your competitors.Hope you'll take due considerations.
Rank 6/16/08 11:52AM #
sounds interesting to me :)
Mike 7/1/08 12:44PM #
What a bad way to start your pitch. "Do you know what Viwdle does?" (OF COURSE NOT, THATS WHY YOUR PITCHING!) - wasting 10 seconds (17%) of your pitch. Regardless, I'm not sure how many people are going to be searching for facts via through video. The majority of research is done through TEXT.
What if... 7/9/08 1:53AM #
Hitler had facial recognition software. We'd have had Dubya in the 1940's....
chris 7/19/08 12:59AM #
Why do so many of these videos have the same distracting and moving background?
Michael 7/30/08 9:22PM #
The technology sounds really cool, but the best way to make money with this is to sell it to one of the youtube competitors for millions
