Looks better than that dumb sony dog.

snore...................
Alex 6/4/08 5:26PM #
Great product!!!
spencer 6/4/08 5:45PM #
I'll pay $350 if it breathes fire
Alan 6/4/08 8:45PM #
@spencer's comment is win. * * * Looks like fun technology... what's the target here? Toys?
Tim 6/4/08 10:41PM #
A $350 toy that will probably appeal mostly to kids that can't afford it. At least it won't bite you and crap on the carpet when you dangle it from its tail.
heheheh 6/4/08 11:31PM #
I like how he talks to a person who doesn't talk back and then when he asks if the person wants a to see his robot, he answers himself and says sure.

Interesting product, the spiel could have been a little less canned but it was interesting nonetheless. On a side note, ending the pitch while holding an artificial life form's tail while it squeals in agony is a little off putting.
FFG 6/5/08 2:21AM #
Great concept....think he has a 5'10" blonde version on the roadmap?
hiredgoon 6/5/08 4:7AM #
great product, if a little creepy...
Andy 6/5/08 6:5AM #
just the pitch please no need to try to act out the actual elevator scenario!
concerned elevator rider 6/5/08 8:26AM #
wow, possibly the longest elevator ride in history. In the Sears Tower perhaps?
Jordan 6/5/08 1:17PM #
Weird product! I'll pass.
Customer Voice 6/5/08 1:49PM #
Cool-looking and great pitch. I love that, for ugobe, robots don't have to look like Jetsons-style machines. Much closer to natural. (Further to other comments this doesn't creep me out at all ------ but FFG's comment about a human blonde version kinda does.)
Agent 6/5/08 2:29PM #
Stupid product - just get a cat, dog etc... lots of good ones at the pound :)
Pete 6/5/08 3:48PM #
Role playing always creates an artificial situation. Who cares about the technology, who wants this?
Holiday 6/5/08 4:34PM #
I lost interest by the time the pitch was 20 seconds in. Too many words like "revolutionary", "technology platform" etc. This might work on marketing peeps but it disinterests me straight away. Start off with the words "robot", "inanimate objects" and "lifelike creatures". These are the really interesting, attention-grabbing words.
Alex 6/5/08 6:17PM #
Fuzzy customer target, over-engineered, single-purpose platform and way too expensive. Thumbs down. Keep in mind that iRobot is making money selling army robot, not Roombas. Can't see this thing applying out very far.
Flashman 6/5/08 8:39PM #
Tamagotchi in 3D - it could work.
Sophie 6/6/08 12:4AM #
If they can invent human look alike robots, it would be a great product for lonely people or people who are not social. Think of the family one can have without reproducing. Great concept that has a future.
wtf 6/6/08 9:25AM #
i wonder how long these crappy toys will take to biodegrade in a landfill. and they'll probably leach mercury and other harmful toxins into the watertable. all for a measly couple hours of novelty to a kid who would rather play a playstation. this is just dumb.
rocker613 6/6/08 8:10PM #
There is something so cool about having a little dino pet on my desk.
Bill 6/7/08 11:23PM #
The pitch was about making life-like characters from objects. What's so life-like about holding a toy by its tail? Why do I care about this feature? I would love to see more compelling examples of life-like behavior...
Lisa 6/8/08 6:18PM #
You know.. he called it a life form. One of the elements of humanity is compassion.. which this company demonstrated that they created a creature which reacts to torture. I have seen other demonstrations of this product which would have been much more appealing. Shudder.
zillax22 6/12/08 6:17AM #
this iss old but i want one
Linda 6/12/08 1:35PM #
This baby robotic dino has added so much companionship and fun to my life and so many others. When Pleo is off it looks like just a toy dinosuar. However, when it's on it becomes a real little life-like creature. Pleo is amazing! Mine doesn't get held up by his tail. Not too often anyhow.
Mary Fallon 6/16/08 3:34PM #
UGOBE big deal is it has figured out how to manufacture complicated robots for consumers to use. Whether many adults will buy Pleo to sit on their desks and keep them company remains to be seen. UGOBE is working on lots of other robots...um ... "lifeforms" with $12.5 mil in funding it just got. Here's Pleo's introduction at DEMO 06 http://www.demo.com/demonstrators/demo2006/63039.html
stephanie 6/23/08 3:56PM #
interesting!
Elaine 6/26/08 2:17PM #
he's handsome. like the dino
Bayou 6/26/08 7:20PM #
Pitch says Pleo has 32 touch sensors while website says it has 8. At least tell the truth in pitch.
Scott 6/27/08 1:20PM #
$8 million in investment? Hmm ... how long did it take the dinosaurs to go extinct?
Bott 6/30/08 7:44AM #
I can see why this guy created this technology. He can't face the camera. Maybe he should take socialization lessons from his invention. I can't wait to meet a child who grew up emulating a technology device that is a surrogate for real interaction. I guess someone has to do this before somebody else. god, tech people are so such socially inept.
Viviane 6/30/08 10:5AM #
Hmmh...my son has Lego's Mindstorm Robotic that cost almost $400.00 and would probably get exctied by this. How much can a kid do with it though? Price seems a little high...
Sigh ... 7/9/08 1:51AM #
Sometimes imagination works so much better. No. Just give any kid a refridgerator box. Didn't cha see Jurassic Park? God help us ... we're in the hands of engineers...
Crazymlc 7/9/08 3:9PM #
I'm just saying, i don't look at pitches very often, but why all the pessimists? It looks like a great product to me, and I'd buy one for a cheaper price. lots of rude comments.
steffen 7/20/08 7:31AM #
toys 2.0 greate for kids beacuse real animals won't be verry happy when little kids are "playing" with them.. It dont sh*ts on your carpet- when the kid don't wants it anymore, no problem, dont recharge it.
Steve 7/26/08 11:52PM #
Pretty cool and scarry. The real question is how much time can pass until you are bored with it? How much reality can it give?
Mike 7/30/08 7:25PM #
Another toy robot company? le yawn
andrei-gl 9/1/08 2:1AM #
a little bit too expensive, but i like it when he's screaming die, dino, die
Huh? 9/19/08 7:32AM #
I think Bob is a lifelike robotic creature.
heh 10/16/08 7:58PM #
Just another furby.. ya got 3 months at most with that.
