The layout of the site is easy and hits a niche market in a spot that will be beneficial. The terrified corn-cobs is worth a watch.
Ryan 6/4/08 3:30PM #
So, why wouldn't I just put it on youtube myslef. Do we really need a company in the middle? It just sounds like this could be a channel on youtube, not a separate company.
Victor 6/4/08 4:42PM #
No way. This is a great idea. My man just needs to make this thing a user hub! Exactly to set itself apart from the Tube. Better listings, and some forums... The next South Park (jeez), will only come if people are talking about. He should be looking closely at what newgrounds.com have been doing.
Dave 6/4/08 5:35PM #
I agree with Ryan, this could be a channel on youtube. Youtube has a category that caters to animation and the possibility for greater exposure as well. I think this company's business plan is lame.
Rob 6/4/08 5:54PM #
ZZZZZZZZZZZ agree this is lame...wondering what sucker will buy these guys... YouTube is the way to go...

Let's ask a bunch of people to make stuff for free and sell advertising against it. Boring.
Alan 6/4/08 7:19PM #
He takes forever to get to the real point: Currently the industry finds animators "by intuition", but now he provides a specialized job-search site, essentially, where animators post their portfolios. Until he said that, I was gonna vote down. But, there is a need for this, apparently.

should be 60 secs not 2.14mins

I think this is a great idea uri. We have talked before you launched. I'm the founder of mojizu.com and sabet.tv I enjoy your site very much. As a Branding and Ui consultant in the web world, I find your creative to be lacking in the quality that you are trying to get across. I wish you the best, and feel free to call or email me regarding the overall design and functionality of the site. more info at http://www.sabet.com

Is it me, or is it bizarre (I guess the 2 aren't mutually exclusive) that a site devoted to Web 2.0 elevator pitches doesn't have a big RSS button somewhere on this page. You should, because this could be a great daily thing.
hiredgoon 6/5/08 3:0AM #
Do we really need another "also ran"? BTW, think Elevator Pitches is a great idea for a site - if only it could stay true to it's name and limit video's to 60 seconds...
borkabrak 6/5/08 10:16AM #
Apparently you don't go to aniboom to find that funny episode from SpongeBob that you saw that time. Instead, for viewers, this is a place to find original work that you haven't seen before. For animators, this is a place to connect with other creators as well as viewers. I like the idea. Whatever else you think about it, it really isn't that case that aniboom is 'just like youtube, but with cartoons'.

It's interesting, but I don't think it can work. For the "next south park" to be found online, it does not need a cooperate backing. As a matter a fact, the whole novelty and process of videos and shows being discovered online is in a very "low budget" DIY style, just throw it up on YouTube. If the next South Park wants to be found online, they need to do it viral style, multiple times.
ren&Stimpy 6/10/08 12:55PM #
No way, the next Simpsons or South Park will NEVER come from such a crappy, low quality, site. Hollywood does not pick shows that way, quit blowing steam up peoples you know what. AniBoom, like the bombs in Pallestine. Brrrrp!
stimpy&ren 6/10/08 9:25PM #
Weak. Very weak.
seemsArtless 6/13/08 8:54AM #
Poor pitch. We know there is a huge market for video, don't keep saying that. Tell me who is going to benefit from this product, or how it is going to change the world? Is the point that the next South Park is going to be another big-network broadcast TV show that you're going to help take forward? Or is the point that non-network entertainment can finally take over through your site?
silly pitch 6/23/08 4:4PM #
weak.
Pete 6/24/08 2:0PM #
I can't believe they just did a youtube clone and then picked an category. How on earth did they get funding for this? I wouldn't mind if the site showed some design creativity. Cloning other people's designs really does not appeal to web 2.0 people!
Elaine 6/26/08 2:11PM #
Charming man. Not crazy about the site, but it has some beautiful animations. Dont' think they'll emerge as the next SP-but who knows?
Viral Marketer 6/28/08 9:54AM #
I think many people here are missing the point of the project and why this is a business and not simply a youtube channel. Have you ever posted a video on youtube? How many views will it eventually get? 5000 if your extremely lucky? I'm a viral marketer and I know firsthand that you need an individual or company in the field with know-how that has the abilities to get your videos viewed by anywhere between 100,000-1,000,000+ viewers. Their business model is sound and intact.
Clara 7/9/08 1:41AM #
Where's the Beef? I mean where is the idea here? Its just a channel on youtube. Get over yourselves... ONLY IN A WORLD OF VIACOM WET DREAMS will this idea succeed.

Excellent work, Nice Design
Jeff Barron 7/12/08 1:38PM #
Thumbs down. I know the video game industry and they aren't looking for South Park style animators. Nor are they looking for the next Joe Cartoon. They are looking for talented 3D modelers. Further, why would an artist need you when they could easily promote themselves like turbosquid.com, deviantart.com, to name two out of probably 15 competitors.
Farside 7/23/08 6:46AM #
It's great to hear the comments from all of the Viral Marketers who obviously work for the so called Israeli cartoon animation company - Aniboom. The concept is not very sound and I would not think that me as an animator would receive very much actual publicity especially after the Radiohead farce of a contest where they pick winners that are actually working with Radiohead already. The pitch does not have any truth to the support behind it. Uri Shinar c'mon you are not doing the animation community any favors. If you are going to pitch something try not to use a fork.
