In regards to "huh?", if you were listening, they sell software like Jira and Confluence. Excellent software and excellent staffing (Some of their people work in the OpenSource community). I had no idea about the business when he was done. I wasn't sure what he was selling, but I didn't feel like trusting him. The message seemed to be "I have a successful business. You should want to associate with me."

If it profitable why would you need VC funding, you could get away with debt financing.. I have never heard of JIRA and Confluence for sure.

30 million in sales and profitable?? Don't go to VC. They are scum. Go to your banker get a 5-10 million dollar credit line and start a US business development office to sell the company. That would the be only reason to look towards VC. Either you are looking to sell a legitimate company and doing brand damage or your a tool.

This made even me uncomfortable. I think he read this approach from a Jeffrey Gitomer book, great in theory, but horrible for a pitch! Drop the presumption, add some genuine facts, and look at the camera with sincerity when you talk, not an 0ff-the-camera stand in.

Funny pitch, I got a good laugh from it. The devil's advocate in me says "So you have two software products that have cloned old and widely known open source projects." "I've seen Confluence and it was good but I can get not just the same but MORE functionality from free software so why would I want yours?"
