How do you solve the "I know the lyrics but I don't know the song name" issue?

I actually like the site.
It's really simple and to the point.
Though I'd change the header as it looks like a giant ad.

Whats the over / under on how long before the RIAA smacks these guys down?

Nice .. I like it but dont all music sites let you search for music e.g pandora.com
You Tube will not like this

I think you should really credit youtube for pulling their clips

Alright after trying it the site is pretty bad ass. But why are some songs not playable? I did a search for "Ball and Chain" by Social Distortion and I can listen to a live cut but not the original studio version. Is that going to be common with most of the stuff on songza? I tested again using "Where the streets have no name" by U2 and found the same results. Is this a result of only going with licensed music, are the studio cuts prohibitively expensive to license?

This site is definitely really nice. Like someone said, the banner-looking header does a good job of ruining a really nice, simple design.

I definitely enjoy the site but still, it's nothing but a cover for youtube - it literally does nothing but search youtube videos and playback the audio... there is zero innovation (you could accomplish the same result yourself by searching youtube, playing a song, and switching to another window).
That being said, it's a great tool, especially when you aren't using your own computer or are at work.

The interface is simple and easy to use. Did I miss the mp3 download button or was it removed?
So if I am an artist, how do I submit my music?
Publishers and royalties are paid?

Nice, clean and easy - can make money on song sales. iTunes should buy these guys now, their search sucks

you can have the whole song. look at pandora radio sean. Do we need another website like this? There are so many lyric websites that I just type in a lyric into Google and it comes up!

I use Songza every day. It works. That said the pitch was very clear with "Google for Music" and should have been a lot clearer on "how we make money".

Songza is pretty cool. Their interface is fairly unique for using radial menus (search "radial menu"). I wish the pitch clarified where the audio is coming from (youtube, apparently) and how it's legal ("Songza pays for licenses from all the major performing-rights organizations (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC)").

Did any of you saying that he is going to be struck down by the music industry for piracy actually visit or read about the site at all? He pays for licenses.
And it completes the task at hand pretty damn well.

Great interface, but no different than Seeqpod, Skreemr, Project Playlist, lite.grooveshark.com, etc...
Plus Skreemr lets you easily download the songs...it's Canadian, so they can blow off the RIAA.

this is an awesome service. given its from youtube the sound quality leaves some to be desired. any way to improve quality?
also has a revenue model.
should provide some more options after you listen to the song - related songs/ artists, etc. give the user stuff to do without having to search again ...
founder knows how to present and what's he's talking about. i'd fund.

From a guy that talks a lot about semantics / suggestions in his google talk, that this songza does not have a spell checker / did you mean function is pretty sad.

Please improve your GUI. I do not like clicking on the thing and then have to select play. Eventually the only reason I click on a music is because I want to listen to it not because I want to buy it. Put the buy stuff near now playing.

This company has no defensible position and oodles of competition. Reminds me of someone creating a Facebook app in hopes it will be bought. Not gonna happen.

The start, "don't you hate it when" is a bit tedious and cliche. I'd start with "Google for music". That's catchy and interesting. And then move on to "So if I had a song stuck in my head, but didn't have it in iTunes or my music files, I could search for it and listen to it."

Nothing special here...google for music? Google could probably add a modifier and suddenly they've done what you're doing.
Better: a search engine where you could submit a snippet of music or a recording of you humming a few bars of a song and the search engine pulls up matches. That'd be a major app...

As sonn as i looked the page my eyes started to bleed.
Why a red background? why red-tones of font?
Talk to your designer and see the concept again... it makes me run away from the site... seriously.

Best talk of the ones shown. If he would drop the "ummm", he would be a GREAT pitch. He has energy, is into the product, and is comfortable talking in front of folks.
The Songza website is cool, design is well thought out and impressive. Overall a good product with a good presentation!

The video leaves out some key things that clearly lead to most posts here...
1. They pay the record labels
2. They make money when someone listening to a song decides to buy it for their iPod.

Songza don't just rip off YouTube audio.
I have music posted on a UK music licensing site.
Songza are posting those tracks, without any credits to the original composer, me!

Frankly Songza sucks!! Half the time the website doesn't work ... meaning to say you click to play a song and it starts loading and loading and doesn't play. Then when you attempt to let them know it asks you to sign up - that's BS!! I should not have to give them personal information to let them know their website isn't working...
