Just what the web needs...beta up?
morgana 9/12/08 2:43PM #
hm...instead of leaving comments on random youtube videos that'll never have an impact, i can make my opinion known directly to the industry that creates the ads by posting them on brandjury.com. excellent.
Karin 9/12/08 3:30PM #
I like the idea.
Phil 9/12/08 3:38PM #
Not a bad idea, kind of like a focus group but on the web. I like the idea of being able to suggest how the ad could be better. Perfect fodder for every armchair critic. This probably should include some sort of enticement, award, or prizes that the respective advertisers could give away for participating in the critique of their ads.

Well, it's an interesting idea. For myself, it has essentially zero utility, as I do not watch or listen to TV or radio, and have ad-blocking enabled fully on my browser.

you've got the wankgnome vote.

Wow...this can really appeal to a broad audience, if you play it right. Young, old, liberal, conservative, everyone has their own issues that they want to gripe about. I also think this will play right in to the hands of people that use the Internet as an entertainment source, I'm sure you'll have plenty of “User” ads submitted via youtube.

I'm game. Certainly easier than the Gallup callers and far less painful than real jury duty.

it's gonna put "someone" out of a job.... Great idea, hope to see it put to good use by corporations/retailers/etc...

Revenue model? Market size? Competition?
carolyn 9/13/08 1:39PM #
I think this is an awesome idea. Its about time we had a say!!!!
GJ 9/13/08 10:8PM #
this sounds like fun!
Sirius Faise 9/14/08 5:57AM #
Good idea. Needs some serious attention to work though.
Hey Tom 9/15/08 11:48AM #
Not sure about their Revenue model? But Market size looks to be the entire world of Advertising and Marketing, and as far as Competition after a search of the internet…looks like none.
Christina Renee 9/16/08 7:28AM #
This is teh fabulous! Great work guys. (But who was the gimp?)
Dave 9/16/08 1:10PM #
1. How will you make money? 2. Why the gimp? 3. The results here don't seem to matter as TC has not written about any of the companies here...even the highest rated/voted.
Mike 9/16/08 1:56PM #
I think this matters, to TC for traffic :p
hausofkim 9/17/08 2:0PM #
great idea! definitely practical for cosumers and advertisers alike.

This is SERIOUSLY a HORRIBLE waste of web space. While the concept has merritt, the potential of something like this ever gaining more than a few hundred users is pretty small. Stick with your day job.
Lou 9/25/08 4:15AM #
this is brilliant idea it should be a standard app applied to all ads shown on the internet. Good bye bad ads FOREVER!!!
The Gimp 9/25/08 2:44PM #
Michael - thank you so much for your valuable and critical analysis of our product. It is because of the useful feedback from genuinely interested folk like you that keeps the internet worthwhile. Personally, I'm getting sick of the vapid rantings of bitter Internet trolls with nothing better to do but spread the wasted space inside their vacuous heads across the web. Kudos to you, my friend, for maintaining the professional and good faith nature of crowdsourcing. Here's to hoping that your insightful and enlightening commentary compels others to act as mature as you have, and here's to hoping that the resulting change in the web's environment is as happy, cheerful and honest as you are. Have a GREAT day, my friend! I love you!

" While the concept has merritt, the potential of something like this ever gaining more than a few hundred users is pretty small. Stick with your day job. " - Michael -------> Yeah because no one wants to waste time on the interwebz being negative and criticizing things, no one wants their individual voice heard. Right Micheal?

Great idea. So many ugly ads out there, it's good to have a venue to enable marketers to see how annoying they are, or how good they are.
John 12/5/08 12:28AM #
This sounds like an interesting concept--I was pondering something like it in the past (hence my purchase of the domain adrespect.com). Advertisers know that irritating ads are often successful because they grab attention. So users should not expect bad ads to disappear just because of mob complaints (e.g. we all hate popup ads, but they don't go away.) Allowing users to create their own ads could provide a lot of value to the advertiser, but I bet incentives will be needed in order to make it work.

Great idea. However I would suggest a better name (it's okay but you could do better), and your website looks ugly. Since this is online you should be all about appearance. Get a really good web design company and have them make something light, colorful, and 2.0ish. Again wonderful idea, nice pitch, I wish you the best of luck.
